Troubleshooting the fresh air / heater blower
Troubleshooting the fresh air / heater blower
I'm trying to get my blower back to working condition (I replaced it around 8 years ago) that hasn't worked in a while. If I connect power and ground it runs perfectly. Looking at the electrical diagram power comes through connector C214. Tried to find it's location in the ETM but couldn't find it. Anyone knows where it's located? I'm suspecting it might be disconnected or something but I'm not getting power at the fan. Here's the diagram with the connector highlighted:

Re: Troubleshooting the fresh air / heater blower
Ah, good timing. I was just working in this area. C214 is on the right side of the heater box above the fresh air flap motor. I would check the wiring first but my guess is your blower resistor went bad. If it is that, its hard to reach but there is a thread somewhere about doing it blind from the engine bay side without removing the heater box.
Edit: it should still work on speed 3 if the resistors are the issue...?

Re: Troubleshooting the fresh air / heater blower
Thanks, that picture is pretty darn good. The resistor pack is also new but I get nothing from the fan. Sounds like I'll be taking the console out then. Appreciate the help!
Re: Troubleshooting the fresh air / heater blower
One of those endoscope cameras would be handy here to pop into the heater box and behind the console to check that everything is plugged in. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of mine for things like this.
Re: Troubleshooting the fresh air / heater blower
Yep, I do have one but after I replied and looked at the pictures better, I might be able to see it from the glove box after removing the small trim plate between it and the dash. I'll sneak a peek later today and see if I can reach it (anything for not having to remove the center section of dash/console).
Re: Troubleshooting the fresh air / heater blower
Found the plug from the glove box. It turned out to be a broken connector at the fan. Soldered a wire to it but no movement after confirming that I had power and ground continuity. Ordered a motor from FCP to replace it.
Re: Troubleshooting the fresh air / heater blower
Update: New fan corrected the issue. Thanks everyone for the assistance!
