WTF World Upholstery?

Post by gwb72tii »

Anybody have any inside knowledge what is going in at World Upholstery. I paid for a headliner back in August and now they are under new management supposedly. There is no way to contact anyone there for the last month and a half. No headliner, no way to leave a message, no customer service.

2002 owners at the FAQ are also surprised/disappointed.

I might be heading up to my jobsite in Ojai in a few weeks (around 11/12) and can certainly swing through there, but that might be too far out for you.
If no one else steps up and you've not heard from them by then, give me a shout and I'll see what I can do.

If it’s not too much trouble I’d appreciate it. The website is operational but it’s been impossible to get any human response.

So it's not working out for a drive-by this week; not sure if you've heard back from them in the interim or not.
Also not sure when I would be heading out that way next but certainly not before Thanksgiving likely.
Sorry, maybe someone else is nearby and can get eyes on them.

Any time Vince, the website is not working now so it looks like I may be out $450 and still in need of a headliner

Hi All. I'm Lucas Philips, owner of Newark Auto. Established in 1907, we are a manufacturer of classic car interior components in New Jersey. I'm writing to announce that we have acquired worlduph.com and are integrating its product line into our existing business.

Newark Auto and our team bring generations of experience in classic car interior manufacturing, along with our commitment to quality and customer service. All World Upholstery products will now be manufactured in our New Jersey facility, maintaining the same specifications and quality standards you expect, backed by Newark Auto's reputation and expertise.

I know that some of you feel disappointed by the final months of World Upholstery under its previous ownership. While Newark Auto has no connection to the former management and ownership, we are committed to rebuilding trust with the classic car community

New orders are now being accepted through worlduph.com, with production and fulfillment handled entirely by our experienced team at Newark Auto.

For those unfamiliar with Newark Auto's history and standards, I welcome you to visit our facility in New Jersey or reach out with any questions about our manufacturing processes and quality control measures.

Lucas,

Honestly we could use a more detailed explanation of what happened with the transition from the previous owners. What happened to orders that had been placed when the website and company went dark etc.

I had ordered a headliner when the ownership issue came up. I never could contact the company, either by voicemail or email, so I contacted VISA and they refunded the entire order to me so I am good as far as money goes.
Yet how do you go from nothing to business as usual? I ordered a headliner from Headlinerexpress in Florida. Talked with the owner and he followed thru exactly as promised. Plus I wanted an OEM color/material for my car which he was able to do.

Hey Fellow BMW owner's,

Happy New Year!
I deal with the largest Upholstery Distributor on the West Coast (possibly the country). Veteran Company.
They can provide a full array of fabric, carpet, vinyl, leather and headliner material all Euro spec for BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and Porsche. I have been doing business with them for many years. I know the owner - Abraham, his son John & Harry. Abe has a section of German cloth - Pyramid design (known as a Herringbone pattern), plain design cloth for bolsters, 2 tone wool carpet - I did my '77 e12 with 2 tone blue - perfect match to OE. Headliner material - 2002 (white), e9 Coupe, e21, e12, e24, e28. I have a local talented guy who works in a Premier BMW Restoration Shop that has a side business.  He has most of the templets for sport seats, carpets, Headliners, and headrests. One Euro e28 he made the correct Euro Headliner for a non sunroof e28 in Alcantara.  Veteran has a dozen colors to choose from. Let me know if any of you guys need help.
