I got busy with the interior the other day. It was pretty gross. Lot of rodent activities and the accompanying sprinkles of stinky seasonings. Carpet had to be thoroughly hosed off but I think it turned out alright.
The true test is to let it sit for a day in the sun and see how it greets you when you open the door. Smells like an old car with a slightly buttery tinge to it. I'll take it.
While I'm here, I installed the clutch master and manual pedals. I've had these for at least 20 years, finally got them out of the garage. The wiring is done and the only clutch parts I've yet to install are the flexible hose at the slave and the slave itself.
I was thinking it's about time to dunk a motor in this car, but then I realized I hadn't finished notching a manifold for it. This is a lot of work and Ive been putting it off. Got it done today. I don't know if I ever want to do another one. Its not much fun.
The e21 323i intake is ready too. In total, this manifold required the following modifications:
-sleeve the injector holes to 14mm
-install barbs for FPR, MS2, and BOV vacuum connections
-fabricate brackets for the fuel rail and throttle cable bracket attachments
-fabricate spacer for later throttle body
-drill and notch throttle body to fit 323 stud pattern
-install barb for IAC connection
-plug CSV orifice
This is a lot of goddamn work when I have a couple of perfectly good B25 intakes here. I really hope it ends up being worth all the screwing around.
All I have left before I put an engine in is to replace the fuel lines under the hood. Easier to do with the engine out.
