I'm curious if anybody has any "tricks" for getting burnt bronzit to look like not shit. A favorite wax/glaze or something. There has to be some sort of temporary fix for this short of wiping wd40 all over. Yes, I have read that people do that. I looked at some wipe on clear coat... I wonder. There's a late night infomercial that was rare to air, for Presto! Pro™.

I'm tempted, but scared at the same time. I don't want to wipe glue all over the paint, but at the same time, I do. I wonder if the inventors had a bronzit bmw and spent their lives trying to revive the fading clear coat, they don't include bronzit in their selling scheme so i doubt it. Went shopping today in a large walking mall, and stumbled across a German brass band playing in the square. The musicians were mostly older guys, and about half of them had beer holders on their music stands, with open bottles. Only in Deutschland!

My wife & I went out for a walk yesterday, and happened to be near the train tracks when the steam locomotive came by.

We've been here since July, and the train runs tourists between a handful of little towns every Sunday. You can hear the whistle echoing through the valley for miles (kilometers?) every time it passes, but I have yet to see the thing up close. Until yesterday. That was pretty cool.

It appears ... small. Track width looks more narrow than standard as well. I know there were a few smaller sizes for tracks and whatnot back when these were current technology, but it's interesting to see one still in use.

Unless my eye and sense of scale are completely off, which is entirely possible.

I think it is narrower than standard in the US, but I'm not sure of the specs. The website has lots of details (all in German, Google Translate FTW!), but I haven't found the track width anywhere.

The railway is mostly just for tourism, linking a handful of little towns along its 13 kilometers, and the only scheduled runs are on Sundays from May to October. Today was the last day it was running for the season. I'm told they sometimes haul timber during the week, but I don't know if that's still true or not. I have heard the whistle during the week, but you can rarely get a glimpse of it for all the trees along the tracks. I think it's more for fun & nostalgia than anything else.

You bet. I had a retirement party thrown for me Thursday and I retired today. Talked about work and the guys who work for me and got a standing ovation when I left. More than a little choked up and I'm not a real emotional guy. Once in a lifetime.

It's pretty remarkable the impact trains like that had on the Midwest; I know in South Dakota, most small towns were built up along the rail lines, and in general are spaced about 10-12 miles apart because that's the distance a steam locomotive could go before it needed either fuel or water. The rails were laid and stops were built around those parameters to keep the trains rolling. Towns & cities just naturally sprang up around the train stops. The rail lines in many places are long gone, but most of the towns are still there.

So apparently my MAF in the 750iL must have been on the fritz for a while. Replacing the MAF on the V12 increased power and performance in a very similar fashion to tuning the throttle bodies on the ///M5. Synced up air makes a HUGE difference!
