Also replaced the front sway bar links with Meyles.
Everything else under there in the front looked okay on the surface, these were plainly left to rot whenever the control arms et al were replaced last.
I replaced the service indicator board with a Programa , then the speedo with a 220 kph part. I put a new diff mount in as well and some air in the tires. What a POS.
(MTech 535i) Replaced a bad driveshaft CSB.
(MTech 535i) Welded up a couple exhaust leaks.
(528e DD) Replaced a couple nasty wiper blades
(Meta s38) Ran a "redundant" ground cable from the trunk battery box to the grounding lug under the rear seat (G301), then to the engine compartment ground (G102). One more "extra" ground wire from G102 to under dash G200.
moved in to the new place over the weekend, put the e28 in truck mode, heh. only took one load over in it, used family friends/trailer + burban, and a couple of honda odysseys (i call 'em APC's, asian people carriers) on my filipino side of the family, there are 3 odysseys.
I paid a Mexican $20 to weld up a crack at a weld in an exhaust pipe. I also found out that some idiot moved the studs for the driveshaft heatshield between 3/85 and 12/87.
^^ seriously! Planning on a set of 970's for the Hartge wheels- tire rack showing rebate available currently too....349 a set with rebate.(16") Have had just one set but am sold- only Potenza I like. Glad to hear there are fans here
Getting ready to reduce the car in my avatar to a hollow rolling shell, then scrapping it. Using all the good bits to cook up a tasty new Diamantschwarz project.
Put a new inside door handle on the driver's door to replace the one that broke at the hinge.
It's great to be able to open the door again without wondering if I'll have to put the key back in the ignition to roll down the window.
I also put on a new set of door latch rubbers to replace the ones that were gone before I bought the car; can't say it improved the opening/closing action of any of the doors. Glad they weren't any more expensive than they were.
Tonight I noticed that the interior light started staying on for a few seconds after closing the door; is it supposed to do that? I don't think it ever did it before.

That's sad. Couldn't the not-so-good bits be put back on the not-so-tasty car instead & keep it on the road? Or are there other problems with it that make it scrapworthy?
He did make it like 400 times nicer than it was when he bought it though. Its actually good sometimes to start with a car like that because you learn a lot and you will know exactly what you want to do when you get to the next one. You also know exactly what to look for when you buy the replacement.
Unless you're me. I have no fucking idea what I'm going to do with this 528i.

Actually it is right where I want it, but it still has a deal breaker for me: a salvaged title. My insurance rep said that if anything happens and the car is totaled, they only pay half of whatever they determine it is worth. This, along with the salvage stigma just bugs me since any past damage can't be found. Besides that, it's going to take a bit of rust repair in a few spots. Some people might think those aren't good enough reasons to part with an otherwise nice ride, but I'd rather take what I have and start over with a soon to be very nice donor. Also, it doesn't hurt that it's a 524td so smog is a non issue. It all just makes more sense to me right now. Believe me, Ill be sad to see this one go, but new beginnings are a good thing sometimes. There's a chance it will be put back on the road, but it will depend on the next owner's intentions with it.
Sadly, after around 20 years of e28 ownership (533i, M5, 535is), I am now down to just my e46 (financial considerations + need the AWD in snowy Central Washington).
My teenage daughters are very bummed - they loved the car and thought theory had dibs on it when they start driving.
Thanks to all for the immeasurable amount of help I've gotten from the community here.

Looked at her, wished I had a garage and tools, and told her how much I miss driving her like I did daily and that she will be fixed up once I've got more money to throw at her (ugh smh)... then I hopped into my other car and pushed button to start
I had a base model 520i, installed M-tech rear spoiler, big toolbox, and the original springs were so weak... So I ordered new ones, the stronger ones.
If somebody tries to do it, I can only give one advice: wear gloves.
