Engine mounts for recent six-cylinder in BMW E28

With these engine mounts all six-cylinder of the M50 engine-family will fit in the E28. There are no further modifications needed on the front-axle. Bolt in and drive!

Gearbox and clutch are taken from each donor.

The engine is placed on the same longitudinal position with these engine mounts as the original M20.
Thus unchanged E28 series parts, such as propeller shaft, gear shifter and gearbox holders can be used. (Except 6-speed)

The highlights:
- Made of St52 / S355 steel
- Yellow chromed for best corrosion protection and appearance
- Compatible with the following engines:
M50 E34 525i, E36 325i,
M52 E36 328i, 528i E39
M54 E46 330i, 530i E39
S50/S52 E36 M3 US
S50 E36 M3, Z3M

With the engine mounts you also get a list with part numbers for the most needed parts.

Price 205 $

Shipping to USA 35 $

Shipping to most European Countries 15 $

Duude. I want the Daniels brothers to chime in on how these will work. They give the thumbs up and I'm in for a set...just in case. :-)

Pricey, but nice. I had to fab a custom bracket for my E28 with an early block one time and it took up a bunch of time and a fair amount of work, this would save tons of both. Hopefully you will continue and there will be demand, I might be up for one in a year or two for a future project.

If the brackets where made of normal steel and without the chromatation, they would be way cheaper.
But i´d like to offer a high-quality part. So they are more expensive.
I think they will be available in a year

You can use a lot of gearboxes. (From M50 up to S54, with another clutch also N53/N43)
I advise you to choose the gearbox from the donor.
With a 5-speed you can use standart e28 parts, like the crossmember, rubbers and the driveshaft.
With a 6-speed you have the make your own crossmember or try to use one of an automatic gearbox.

You will recive a list with partnumbers, they fit for the swap with the engine brackets. (what a bad gramatik  )

The brackets will also fit for an e24 M50-swap

e34 m50b20/5.You also need dipstick and oil pump strainer from e34.

Besides the OP should revise his info on this
Thus unchanged E28 series parts, such as propeller shaft, gear shifter and gearbox holders can be used.
Propeler shaft on bmw e28 engines up to 2.5e (eu versions) are using small guibo.
e36/9 328 with original gearbox are using large guibo. In this case you need new, completely different shaft.

Also the e36 gearboxes are way shorter than e28 boxes so original shaft need to be modified.

e28 gearshifter got NOTHING in common with e36/9 5 spd shifters, exept you can fit e28 knob on it.
Besides e36 328 shifter is shorter than other e36 shifters, which allows you to shift faster.

No bad feelings, just some recent experience.

ofc you can use e28 or bmw series parts. no changes have to be done...
i made that swap with a s50 and m54.

the late e28 have the same system of gear shifter and mounting like e36, e34...
so you can use shift arm and the connecting rod from e28, e30 and so on.
you just have to choose the right length.
the shift lever should be taken from the donor.

for the most swaps you have to use the e28 535i propeller shaft.
they where also used in the late euro td and eta models. (large guibo, 96mm)

for the gearboxes from the late 325i e36 models you can use the 520i propeller shaft.
(small guibo 78mm)
